After 6 + weeks at Hamilton Island (awaiting 2 x new beaut batteries and undergoing the tricky yet successful installation process undertaken by Captain Ron) we have now set sail to CID Harbour on Whitsunday Island where we will set anchor until the nav system and new comm system arrives at Airlie Beach. Sails went up without a hitch and we had a lovely sail. CID is one of our favourite anchorages, with protection from all prevailing winds and great walking track to the top of the Whitsunday Peak and Dugong Beach. Upon arrival at CID, John and Kat from Lye Olos Cair, welcomed us with a cuppa and muffins. With our new batteries, we only need to start the generator every 3 days (instead of every day), so we are the envy of other live on boarders “LOBs”.
Harriet has been a legend, jumping back on the paddle board for her twice daily outings and doing her business up the front on the astroturf on command.
Chris arrives tomorrow for 5 days of relaxation at the R&R achievement centre. We then head over to Airlie for the new comm and nav systems to be installed.
Our plans to head up to Lizard may change. In August, we are contemplating doing the Lagoon Escapade and Multihull Rendezvous, two social sails around the Whitsundays with likeminded catamaran owners where we get to compare the size of our amps and unofficial sailing PB. Ron has also been asked to crew on yachts for Hamilton Island Race week and Airlie Race week, also in August.
As we are now officially Vice Commodores of the Margaret River Yatch Club, we’ve also been invited to the annual Vice Commodores Rendezvous at Shag Island Cruising Yacht Club from 28 – 31 August.
Any visitors to the Whitsundays, if you could kindly call our travel agent Karen with flight details so we can arrange pickup from Hamilton Island.
